I enjoy collecting old United States coins and notes (bills). The technical term for someone who collects coins is numismatist. I find a lot of the history fascinating. For example, did you know that the US minted coins such as the half cent, two cent coin, and three cent coin? They even minted a twenty cent coin (but only for 4 years)! How about that before they were called nickels they were called half dimes?

My favorite coins to collect are the weird, outdated denominations known as “obsolete currency” such as the half-cent. I also like to look for old notes, typically before 1929 when the United States switched to small sized notes, the ones we are familiar with today. Before 1929 bills were much larger in size.
